GUJRANWALA – At least three Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers were injured in a violent face-off with the ruling party’s supporters on GT Road,
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) candidate for Chairman, Abdul Qayyum led a rally in Union Council (UC) 29. As soon the rally reached GT Road, PTI workers threw stones to disrupt the gathering. The opposition party workers smashed window panes of several vehicles.
Resultantly, at least three participants of the rally were injured.
On the other hand in Lahore, PML-N workers allegedly stormed winning General Councilor belonging to PTI in UC-48, Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor’s office. The violators of the law allegedly opened fire at the office also injuring a local.
In another face-off in Lahore’s Badami Bagh, at least two PTI enthusiasts were injured sparking a protest outside the concerned police station.
Expected close contest in first phase of the local body (LB) polls that turned out to be one-sided with massive margin sparked clashes in different cities between PTI and PML-N. In Faisalabad, a firing incident claimed life of a political worker. Police said that the killed person belonged to PTI. A case was registered against Federal Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali and MPA Tahir Jamil.

Funeral prayer of the slain was offered on Sunday at Samundri Road. Family and relatives of the killed PTI supporter staged a sit-in protest and demanded justice for their son.
