CPEC holds great importance to develop relations between two countries and different parts
SHANGHAI (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday has said that terrorism is the most serious issue of the present day and the international powers need to fight the extremist approach.
He expressed these views while addressing the 14th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) during his two-day visit to China.
The Prime Minister said that international powers could restore peace in the world by cooperating. He said that sovereignty of the states and internal stability have threats in the region. Nawaz said that SCO plays a role to promote peace.
While talking to the media before the summit, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) holds great importance to develop relations between two countries and different parts.The government is laying attention to curb energy crisis in the country, he added.
Prime Ministers of Kazakhistan, Russia, Afghanistan, Iran, India, Belarus and Mongolia are participating in the summit. The agenda of the meeting includes the menace of terrorism and how to tackle extremism in different countries.The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was founded for a sole purpose of maintaining stability in the members. Russia, Kazakhistan, China, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are permanent members while during the Ufa meeting in Russia this year, Pakistan and India were also made permanent members of the SCO.
