KARACHI – Rangers and other law enforcement agencies have sealed Khursheed Memorial Secretariat, MPA hostel, media cell and Nine-Zero headquarters over Altaf Hussain’s anti-Pakistani statements, reported Tuesday.
LEAs have reportedly seized anti-state literature and weapons from different offices of the political party.Zonal offices in Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Nawabshah and other cities of Sindh were also shut. Within Karachi, the offices that were sealed include those in Gulistan-e-Johar, PIB Colony, Unit Office, Shah Faisal and Malir Sector among others.
Workers of Pak Sarzameen Party, a political group founded by MQM renegade and former mayor of Karachi, Mustafa Kamal, waved national flags at Makka Chowk to express resentment towards Altaf Hussain for his anti-Pakistan sentiments.
Sector Commander of Rangers, Brigadier Khurram stated that some women were present in different offices of the party during raids at night who were interrogated but no arrested were made.
Sources privy to the Rangers stated that all weapons that were seized would be tested forensically. Meanwhile, Sindh Police and Rangers conducted different operations across Karachi.
It should be mentioned here that security across the province especially key installments is tight after the chaos that ensued clash between MQM workers and LEAs in Karachi last evening.
Party workers had stormed office of a private news channel in Karachi after Altaf Hussain instructed them during an address over the telephone.
Key members responsible to handle party affairs in the country in absence of Altaf Hussain including Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan and Dr Farooq Sattar have been detained by Rangers since Monday night.
MQM had called a strike on Tuesday but almost all business points in Karachi, markets and transport businesses have opened today following normal routines.
Hussain has been residing in London for over a decade in self-imposed exile.
