ISLAMABAD — Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has reportedly received another letter by much talked about Qatari royal Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani which states conditional willingness to appear before the team.
The letter was written by the prince to Pakistani authorities on July 17 that invites the JIT members for a meeting in Doha in coming week.
The invitation has come in around a week after JIT concluded its proceedings and filed a report in the top court.
The letter claims that the probe officials did not approach the royal for a hearing and that he is willing to meet the team if he is assured of immunity over Pakistani laws.
Panamagate JIT that was tasked by the apex court to look into assets, means of income and money trail regarding purchase of apartments in Mayfair of London by the first family of Pakistan, was criticised by the federally ruling party and aides of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif for not including Qatari s prince s statement in the issue which according to the defence is their key witness.
The Supreme Court (SC) is hearing the Panama Papers case on daily basis for an early verdict.
Key petitioner in the case against the first family, opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has been slamming ruling party s objections since the beginning branding their Qatari royal statements part of a concocted story.
