ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday left for Turkmenistan on a two-day official visit,
According to details, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir also accompany the PM on his tour.
During his stay, PM Nawaz will hold one-on-one meeting with the president of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov .
He will also lead Pakistani side in delegation-level talks with Turkmenistan.
Both sides will discuss the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (Tapi) gas pipeline project and will also sign a number of agreements and MOUs of cooperation in diverse fields such as trade and economy.
Moreover, Turkmenistan President will also host lunch for PM Nawaz.
In his pre-departure statement, PM Nawaz said that Pakistan attaches great importance to enhancing its relations with Central Asian republics.
He said the government has a vision of increasing energy, trade and rail and road links with Central Asian states.
The PM will also visit Kyrgyzstan where he will hold meeting with the Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev.
During the delegation-level talks the two sides will discuss issues of mutual cooperation in various fields.
A few MoUs and agreements are likely to be signed during the visit.
