BAHAWALPUR – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday emphatically stated that Pakistan is ready to confront any ambitious and reckless move by its enemies.
Addressing a ceremony marking conclusion of military exercise Raad-ul-Barq (Strike of Thunder) in Khairpur Tamiwali in Bahawalpur, the Prime Minister reiterated that any effort to harm national security and territorial integrity will meet a befitting response.
He said Pakistan cannot remain detached from recent developments in the region.
He said it was extremely unfortunate that South Asia remains prone to confrontation. Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains the core issue of contention between Pakistan and India.
He said brutal tactics used to curb recent spontaneous and indigenous movement in Jammu and Kashmir have been counter-productive.
Nawaz Sharif said killing of our innocent civilians and soldiers along the Line of Control is another act of aggression which warrants international attention.
Giving his remarks on the country’s anti-terror efforts, the premier described operation Zarb-e-Azb as the most comprehensive, robust and successful anti-terrorism operation anywhere in the world.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif witnessed ‘Raad ul Barq’ military exercises in Khairpur Tamiwali firing range of Cholistan desert.Army chief General Raheel Sharif, Air Chief, Air Marshal Sohail Aman and Naval chief Admiral Zakaullah, Defence Minister Khwaja Asif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, National Security Adviser Lt.Gen. Nasser Janjua and ambassadors attended the event.
