Pakistan lodges protest with India over LoC firing, violation of airspace


ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today (Thursday) summoned the Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad and registered strong protest with him over violation of Pakistani airspace and unprovoked firing by Indian BSF along the Line of Control (LoC).

On Wednesday, Pak Army shot down an Indian spy drone which intruded into Azad Kashmir. In a statement, the military said troops downed the drone in the Bhimber sector. It said such drones are used to take photographs.

The Foreign Secretary also lodged protest for the recent unprovoked ceasefire violation by the Indian BSF at LoC and Working Boundary which resulted in the martyrdom of four Pakistani civilian.

The Foreign Secretary emphasized that in the spirit of maintaining peace and tranquillity at the LoC and the working boundary and the region at large, it was important that the 2003 Understanding on maintaining ceasefire is observed.

Meanwhile, the Indian High Commissioner assured to convey the message to his authorities, accordingly.
