Pak Army acting against terrorists indiscriminately: COAS


KARACHI – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Thursday said that Pakistan army is taking indiscriminating action against the terrorists, adding that the non-state actors have caused global security concerns,

Army Chief visited the ongoing defense exhibition Ideas 2014 at the Expo Center in Karachi where he checked local and foreign stalls.

Addressing the Ideas 2014 seminar, General Sharif said that Pakistan army is acting indiscriminately against the terrorists with good intentions and full sincerity.

He said that Pakistan Army will, without a doubt, take this battle against terrorists to its end.

General Raheel Sharif said that the resolution of Kashmir dispute and Palestine’s occupation is critically important. He said these are difficult times and that the regional security is threatened with issues like Kashmir and Palestine’s occupation.

The Army Chief said that the shortage of food and water are also security challenges.

He said the national security also depends on the conditions in the neighbourhood, adding that the defense needs are also evolving with time.

He said the non-state actors have caused global security concerns and that we have to work to protect our ideologies.

General Sharif said that non-government organizations (NGOs) and multinational companies also put the national security at risk.

He said that mass influx of immigrants to another country also poses a risk, adding that poverty and unemployment are also among big challenges.

The Army Chief said that religion and sectarian identities are also becoming the new reasons of war.

He said that everyone is answerable in the era of freedom of expression even in the developed countries.

General Sharif said that a soldier has to be answerable from both moral and legal points of view, adding that the armies of democratic countries have to keep moral values into considerations.
