No action taken against banned outfits under PML-N’s NAP: Bilawal

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday said that ensuring justice to every single citizen of Pakistan is lawyers’ duty.

Talking to the lawyers at Lahore High Court Bar, Bilawal said that politicians have to agree on public mandate instead of fighting for their own stance. He stated that LHC Bar is the oldest entity of South Asia whereas its election is strength of democracy which is much needed in the country.

PPP Chairman further showed ecstasy for being with the lawyers and lauded their role against the dictatorship. Bilawal advised the participants to work honestly for the country at every ste .

Country’s development lies in the continuity of democracy, he added.

He reiterated that departments should work together according to constitution for the sake of peace and harmony. Bilawal said that we are responsible for the failures of country at national level as several blunders have also been committed by judiciary.

But let us not dwell too much into the past and move on, he said.

Bilawal called for revisiting the procedure for the appointment of judges, the setting up of a Constitution Court, regulating the use of suo moto powers, provision of speedy and inexpensive justice, legislation to prevent misuse of blasphemy law and ending the culture of sacred cows in fighting corruption.

I urge you to give a thought whether the independence of judiciary is guaranteed by vesting the power to appoint judges by the judges alone or is it best served when the power to appoint judges is diffused between the Parliament, the President, the Prime Minister and the Bar Council?, he added.

Talking about former president Pervez Musharraf, he said that one dictator has suspended 60 judges in the past which was illegal and unconstitutional.

The chief said that PPP is well wisher of fair judicial system in the country.

Commenting on National Action Plan (NAP), Bilawal complained that the plan is not working as per decided. He lashed out at the incumbent Punjab government and asked that how many terrorists have been killed or apprehended in the province so far.

He called upon the government to abandon the policy of running with the hare and hunting with the hound in dealing with militants and militant organizations.
