ISLAMABAD – Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will appear in the Accountability Court again today (Monday) in connection with three corruption references filed against him by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar will also appear in the Accountability Court. Nawaz Sharif is nominated suspect in references regarding Avenfield properties, Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investment, while Maryam Nawaz and her husband Captain (r) Safdar are nominated in reference regarding Avenfield properties alone.
On the other hand, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) likely to announce today the reserved verdict on former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s plea seeking merger of all NAB references filed against him into one.
Meanwhile, the Accountability Court will record that statement of prosecution witnesses Malik Tayyab Mukhtar and Umar Daraz in Avenfield properties, Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investment references during today’s proceedings.
During previous hearing, the Accountability Court had adjourned the hearing of Avenfield properties, Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investment references till December 4.
Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Harris told that Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved its verdict on a plea seeking to merge all three National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references.
He continued that no statement can be recorded until decision of IHC comes after which, the court adjourned the hearing without any proceeding.
