KARACHI – Muttahida Qaumi Movement s (MQM) leaders on Monday demanded the resignation of Dr Ishratul Ibaad from his post of Governor Sindh,
Farooq Satar said that Dr Ishratul Ibaad had failed to meet people’s expectations, as murder of youth in urban areas of Sindh continued including beheading of several people, a matter which the incumbent governor had failed to take notice of.
Commenting on Dr Ishratul Ibaad’s service, he said that his earlier service had been exemplary.
His behavior however had changed after some time, said Farooq Sattar.
Commenting on the change in Ishratul Ibaad’s behaviour, Farooq Sattar said that when PPP’s govenment in 2008 MQM workers were openly victimized.
Farooq Sattar said that ‘water has gone high above the head’ to the extent where MQM chief and MQM workers are now whispering on Dr Ishratul Ebaad’s role for the welfare of party.
Lamenting the ignorance of arresting culprits behind acts of violence, Farooq Sattar said that perpetrators were identified yet no action was taken upon, despite matters being in front of Dr Ishratul Ibaad’s eyes.
Admitting that the post of governor as ceremonial, Farooq Sattar said that MQM had never strived to gain power and stay in government, citing several instances where MQM had come out of government.
After 2013 general elections, a targeted operation was launched in Karachi, said Farooq Sattar. As the governor, Dr Ishratul Ibaad had failed to check whether the desired operation is getting the desired results, said Farooq Sattar.
A monitoring committee had been suggested to keep the ongoing operation in check, said Farooq Sattar. Dr Ishratul Ibaad had failed to keep track of the ongoing injustices against the urban youth of Sindh inspite of the suggestion.
Farooq Sattar said that fake FIRs had been registered against his party members even though they had not committed any crime while other political parties had been declared ‘clean’ as no other parties had been targeted by ‘media trial’.
Highlighting the failure of the incumbent governor regarding safeguarding the rights of Mohajir community, Dr Farooq Sattar said it was high time that Ishratul Ebaad be removed from his post.
He pleaded civil society, retired judges, and human rights organizations among others to take notice of discrimination against MQM.
