Indian playback singer, Kailash Kher has expressed his love and respect for late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan on the legend’ s 68th birth anniversary on Thursday.
At one hand where Indian extremist groups are cancelling music concerts of Pakistani musicians and banning actors from the neighbouring country, Kailash Kher has given a tribute to late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan on legend’s 68th birth anniversary.
In an interview with a radio channel, the voice, hailed as soulful by many, Kher sang a late Khan’s song as he paid his tribute to the maestro.
While conversing with the interviewer, Kher said that like he learnt singing listening to Pandit Kumar Gandharva, he learnt the art from Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The style and delivery of late Khan taught him a lot, he said. Kher said that it was not less than a wonder how a singer could convey a meaningful and deep thought in a style of singing called Qawwali which is so pacy.
“People like him do not belong to one place, they belong to the world, the universe,” the singer said.
