LAHORE – Punjab government on Saturday has revised timings of schools in wake of sweltering heat across the country.
According to the fresh schedule, government schools will open at 7 am and will conclude lectures by 11 am. The provincial government has further announced summer vacations from June 1st.
On the other hand, private schools will start activities at 7:30 am and end lectures by 11:30 am. Sources privy to association of the private schools, summer vacations will begin from June 11.
Earlier this week, Sindh government announced summer vacations and ordered closure of all schools in the province for two months. Both private and government schools will remain closed until July 25th.
However, reports about private schools not complying with the order surfaced on Friday. According to the reports, private schools demanded the government to give at least three-day time to comply with the instructions.
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast spell of rains in different parts of country starting from Sunday. Cloudy weather with strong gusty winds is also likely in Karachi.
In next 24 hours, mainly very hot and dry weather is expected over most parts of the country. Very hot weather conditions would continue over plain areas of Punjab, KP, Sindh (Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad divisions), Sibbi & Makran divisions.
