ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday has reserved verdict regarding Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif s relief package for farmers after Information Secretary and Secretary Food Security briefed the commission.
A key meeting was held in the ECP after schedules of local body (LB) polls in Sindh and Punjab were issued following PM’s announcement of relief package. The secretary of both the departments briefed the meeting headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza Khan.
The commission had summoned a complete record of advertisements and documents regarding the package. Both the secretaries were asked to prove that the announcement soon before the LB polls is not in violation of election conduct.
