DSP shot dead in Karachi’s Shah Latif area


KARACHI  – Unknown gunmen targeted a police van in Shah Latif area of Karachi today (Tuesday), killing Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Majeed Abbasi who was probing Baladia Town factory fire incident.

According to police, DSP Abbasi was travelling from Shah Latif to SITE area when armed men opened fire at his vehicle, injuring him and his driver.
Abbasi succumbed to injuries as he was shifted to Jinnah Hospital.

DSP Majeed Abbasi was appointed as DPO in SITE division of the sensitive West Zone.

Additional IG Ghulam Qadir Thebo said at least four terrorists were involved in the attack. He said the culprits will be brought to justice soon.

Majeed Abbasi is the third DSP who has been killed in Karachi during last 45 days.

On May 10, DSP Zulfiqar Zaidi was gunned down along with his friend in Shah Faisal Colony and DSP Abdul Fateh was gunned down in Gulshan-e-Hadeed area of Karachi on May 1.
