Charsadda attack: Day of mourning announced, flags to fly at half-mast


ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced to observe Thursday as the national day of mourning in the wake of deadly terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University,

According to details, PM Nawaz has directed to observe Thursday as the national day of mourning while the national flags on all official buildings will be displayed at half-mast.

Earlier, PM Nawaz phoned Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and discussed the security situation in wake of the terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda.

Reportedly, the civil and military leadership is in agreement to continue the war against terrorism. They said the war will be taken to its logical end.

Prime Minister Nawaz praised the action of the armed forces after the Charsadda attack. They discussed that the war against terrorism has full support from the people and therefore must be continued with full force.

Meanwhile, PM Nawaz has directed the security institutions to chase the facilitators and financers of the attack.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is currently in Switzerland to attend annual meeting of World Economic Forum.

As many as four terrorists entered Bacha Khan University in Charsadda district, roughly 50 kilometres (30 miles) from the city of Peshawar, on Wednesday morning, killing 20 people and injuring several others,

Medical Superintendent (MS) of the District Headquarter Hospital Charsadda confirmed the death toll.
