DHAKA (AFP) – Bangladesh on Wednesday recalled off-spinner Sohag Gazi to their 14-member squad for the two Twenty20 internationals against visiting South Africa next week.
Gazi has not played for Bangladesh since he was suspended from bowling over a flawed action in October last year.
He was cleared to bowl in February after undergoing remedial work but a dip in form meant he did not regain his lost place in the squad.
The 24-year-old will now take the place of injured Mohammad Mahmudullah who is still nursing a finger injury that kept himout of the recent home series against India.
“We are looking for an option after Mahmudullah s injury and he (Gazi) fulfils our requirement,” chief selector Faruque Ahmed told AFP.
Leg-spinner Jubair Hossain was called up for his maiden Twenty20 covering for injured paceman Taskin Ahmed.
Taskin is out for at least three weeks after he suffered a rib injury during a training session last week.
The two Twenty20 matches will be held at Dhaka s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on July 5 and 7.
