KARACHI (Web Desk) – Traffic system in different areas of the metropolis was disrupted as hundreds of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) workers gathered on Gurumandir Chowrangi and Lasbela to protest against  extra judicial killings  and  illegal arrests  of party workers, Dunya News reported.

Traffic was diverted towards Liaquatabad and Pak Colony after SM Taufiq road from Nazimabad to Lasbela was closed at Rizwiya Chowrangi. A massive traffic jam was witnessed on MA Jinnah Road and its surrounding areas, including Soldier Bazaar, Jail Road, Jamshed Quarters, Patel Para and Soldier Bazaar.

Barricades were placed at Peoples Secretariat Chowrangi at MA Jinnah Road and the route from Corridor 3 to Parade Street was closed due to which traffic going towards Saddar was diverted towards Shahra-e-Qaideen through Khudad Colony route.

Due to security concerns, the routes leading towards Chief Minister House and Governor House were closed by placing barricades to make sure the protesters keep away from the high-security zone.

The demonstration that began on Tuesday afternoon continued even after sunset despite repeated requests by authorities to call off the protest.
