US urges Pakistan to ‘do more’ against all Taliban groups

WASHINGTON (Web Desk) – State Department spokesperson, Heather Nauert said that Pakistan has taken some positive steps in the right direction in crackdown on terrorist groups.

Addressing a press briefing in Washington, Heather said that Pakistan should launch stern action against Taliban wings including Haqqai Network in the country.

She said US Vice President Mike Pence and Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi during their meeting in Washington last week exchanged views on US South Asia strategy. She revealed that both leaders also discussed how to speed up operation to eliminate terrorism.

The spokesperson said Pakistan can play a critical role in bringing Afghan Taliban to the negotiation table.
