Once a food-secure country, Pakistan has now slipped to 20th spot from ninth in production of citrus fruit.
There are several factors behind plummeting production including lack of use of modern technology, proper packing and timely deliverance.
Citrus Growers Association Spokesperson stated that water issue is getting critical with every passing moment. He termed construction of several dams by India as alarming issue.
The spokesperson further stated that cost of production is continuously rising whereas citrus farmers are not getting appropriate returns.
