ISLAMABAD – Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a petition to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra), urging to decrease electricity price by Rs1.80.
According to CPPA petition, the price cut has been suggested for fuel adjustment of August month as 32.90% power was generated from Hydel, 3.18% from coal, 3.63% from Diesel, 24.49% from Furnace oil, 16.84% from local gas while Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) produced 16.83% electricity.
The hearing on the issue will be carried out on September 26.
Earlier, Nepra hiked the electricity price per unit by Rs 3.90 after being pressurised by the distribution companies. NEPRA passed a five-year tariff agreement which will raise the electricity price for a defined period. The prices will remain Rs. 3.9/unit high for the duration of five years.
